Unbridled

Title
Unbridled
Artist
Ken Walker
Medium
Digital Art - Digital Painting
Description
Inspired by VIVA Anderson's flower paintings. The concept behind the painting/poem was partially inspired by the lyrics from the Sondheim musical, "Sunday in the Park with George" - The song "Finish the Hat", as well as the prevailing theme "Color and Light....Order and Composition", first lines of the play. A visual representation of the creative process as it happens in the artist's mind - chaos taking form to become something beautiful.
UNBRIDLED by Ken Walker
If I could peer into
the creative mind
what mystery
would I behold?
I imagine
vast wonders,
beauty in transit.
swirling ideas,
furious,
unbridled,
Pure Chaos
my synapsis,
Alive
Creation,
my drug of choice,
socially acceptable
but no less costly.
No sleep,
only the need
remains
satisfy my hunger,
but
the joy fades
onto another blank canvas,
the next hit to get right.
Compulsion -
“Finish the hat”
but the painter and I know
“There never was a hat!”
He and I,
we’re just chasing the monkey.
It will never end.
Not for the artistic soul
forever intertwined
the noble pursuit:
Color and light,
brush strokes and texture,
order and composition,
and,
the unyielding desire to be
seen and understood.
Artist Note - "There is something ethereal about this image and how it all came out. As an artist, I tend to go with the flow, putting various elements onto a blank canvas, watching it form into something, but often I'm not sure what. But as a wise woman said, this reflects the "state of mind" of the artist, a story, a deep philosophical prevailing thread that is revealed in the body of work presented. This painting seemed to show this process as it is happening - an ordered chaos leading to something beautiful. The concept came to mind: "What would the creative process look like if we could snap a moment of it" This is what I imagine a lovely painting of a flower might look like mid-process or maybe this is the finished product? The viewer will have to decide that themselves.

Ken, I love your poem…I see “co-creation” as the “unbridled” dance floor wherein my passionate love dance engins when I hold the brush or pen and The Flow (of Inspiration) sweeps me into the LIGHT and Colour…the FORMLESSNESS and Form and I am released…Breathless, awaiting the next invitation to ….Dance! Thank you for your openness and behind the BUZzz shares, always more to ponder with gratitude. Best to you!..LF

Ken, I feel like you've seen inside my head with your poem. I've said before that it's noisy in my head -- so many ideas, so little time. ;) The poem and the painting are both beautiful!
