Description
7th in a series of stories, poems, and musings of this life we find ourselves in. "The Grand Facade" was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song, "In Your Eyes."
He had built the wall to keep the monsters out. Still they had come, night after night, their screams threatening to strip him of his courage. Many times he thought to give in, especially when a few managed to overtake the wall, still he held the hoard back. We felt so tired of working for survival and looked for the time he could be with her again. His hope was that maybe tomorrow was the day he would figure away to kill them all. That day had finally arrived. His love for her pushed him to find the cure. The key to his freedom was light. It was when he realized that she was immune to them that he began his journey back into her arms. It was the light in her eyes, the heat of it that vanquished them, the purity and truth of it that burned them without mercy. He felt his instincts return, his identity that had been pushed into the darkness emerge into a fiery flame of light-and then the wall, the Grand Façade burned, and the monster he once battled vanished. And so, she guided him to safety, like a doorway to a thousand churches, the final resolution of all the fruitless searches, he found his way back to her.
This is a story of addiction and the love that prevails
