Description
Inspired by the Otis Redding song of the same name and the 1st in the collection "Abstract and the Written Word" a series of stories and poems inspired by the artwork.
-"Sal sat quietly on the dock, enjoying the symphony of sounds emanating from the little harbor in town. There wasn't much to do these days at night. Even in a small town like Invisible, Maine, things were on lock-down, so he found himself sitting here listening to the water brush up against the dock's pilings as seagulls fought over the last morsel of bread. He'd bring more tomorrow. While he missed the daily conversations over a good pint, he had to admit his new routine here on the dock was more enjoyable that he would have imagined. Just last week, he would have been sitting at the Wasted Bull, spending much of his time there in petty arguments about anything and everything, as someone always had an opinion about something of no importance whatsoever. Now, Sal had the time to watch his neighbors enjoy a walk with their dog, take a much needed excursion out on the water, or, like him, plant themselves down in a quiet space and just 'be.' He had his concerns about the state of the world, as was to be expected, but maybe some time away from the norm was a good thing. He caught the first draft of chill in the air, the sign it was time to leave and retire to his little cottage not far up the road. 'Good-bye my new friend', he said in jest, as he got himself up, brushing off the crumbs from his pants. Tomorrow he'd be back here to waste some time watching the tide roll away, sitting on 'The Dock Of The Bay.'"
