Description
Whimsical abstract of wind blowing against a rolling stone - a representation of the artist's morning walks.
Rolling Stone by Ken Walker
5 AM
Arise and awaken. The Walker
finds solace in the cool shadows
of morning’s empty streets.
Stride down the middle, dare
to be bold, a apocalyptic survivor
stave off the horde of hungry zombies.
Shalom my friend, enjoy
this time, master
of your story not yet written.
What will the ending to this tale offer?
Hope embraced,
turns the page, rolling the stone into the next
chapter of days, one by one until no stone is left
unturned.
Artist Note - "This time I attempted to create a painting and poem that was personal "journal" of sorts, describing creatively some of what my morning walks are like for me. Of late, much to my shock, I have enjoyed getting up while still dark outside, with that crisp morning night, soon morning, air - a damp haze all around me setting off a haunting glow from the street lamps. Most amazing is the lack of activity - empty streets (yet with the distant sound of life up ahead from the main road) that I can walk straight down the middle, like all those apocalyptic movies I've watched. I'm alone with my thoughts, and while this is sometimes overwhelming as there is little distraction to keep all the thoughts masked, I still find it peaceful and comforting. I have the day in front of me - new hope. New life. This time propels me forward like a gust of wind - strength for today and hope for tomorrow."

Barbara, glad you got it - simplicity isn't always easy, but so rewarding when done right :) Thanks for the compliment!
