Description
Abstract adaption of Sting's song "Desert Rose" and the 7th in the series The Story Vol 1 telling the story of finding hope in the midst of grief.
" - 'And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire' - Sting
The prophetic melody soared out into the open street from the beachfront cafe and out over the canopy of palm trees, a fitting soundtrack to the undulating mirage slowly coming into shape before him. 'Hi! You're late' The mysterious shadow pronounced in a way that truly made him feel as if he had indeed been late to this previously arranged engagement. Why is it you're never prepared for the truly epic moments of your life? It had only been a few days since he left the lake house, a quick detour to Santa Barbara to visit his mother before heading back to LA. He had forgotten how much he loved it here-the beautiful coastline dotted with Spanish cottages, palm trees, and so much color. Everywhere. He had made his way down to Arroyo Burro to enjoy the chaotic joy that only canines offer as they are set free to challenge the waves, and scare off the occasional wandering seagull. He had accepted, or was trying to accept that it was unlikely he'd ever 'run into' (yeah, that was a funny one, he thought) his NYC angel again. But here she was casting the same glow he had just seen in his dream the night before, the sweetest of memories, although he didn't remember her smile having quite the same impact on him as it was having now. 'I know,' he said, looking into her face seeing the understanding there, 'I won't be late again' And somehow he knew that was true. 'I'm glad your here now' she whispered and she walked around him with a nod and a wink to follow her back to the beach.
'And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns I realize that nothing's as it seems
This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this!" - Sting

Thank you. I realized that with this the story should be read with the others for context. Glad you enjoyed it though :)
