Ken, what a dignified, testament to your heritage! ‘Tis a wonderful presentation! And, thank you for sharing YOUR heritage story, too. Inspiring, that this is so personal. Kudos, and, good luck in the contest! Gets my vote!🌺🤗f.v, VIVA

Ken Walker replied:

Nice to have something to represent Sweden here.

Artist's Description

"Old Tjikko" is a 9,500 year old Norwegian Spruce discovered in Sweden, my country of heritage, in 2004, by Professor Leif Kullman and named after his Siberian husky. This image was created for the Fall or Autumn Minimalism Contest (11/2021). (cited BoredPanda 2016) Note: Lines are for effect.

Artist Note - "I discovered this fascinating image of a a tree amongst all the other images of trees full of foliage. There was something noble and regal about it, but also ancient and frail, simply beautiful. Here, singled out in Sweden, is a tree that has withstood the force of time - what stories it could tell. There is something to be said for those things around us that remain. Yes old, but majestic and elegant - worthy of our respect and adoration. Being 49.9% Swedish, it was special to find a story from the "motherland" and use it for this contest."

Welcome! They say that a good biography is in the 3rd person - I prefer to be more personal. If you've taken the time to read this, then you deserve something more, something more personal and heartfelt to get to know me as an artist and as a person. To understand the art, it is good to understand the journey the artist takes: The joys and scars along the way. Take a moment to experience my work, and you'll notice a common thread: Hope and Healing. Communicating all I've learned in...
