Description
To celebrate the season, and the artist's love of vampire lore. This painting is a self-portrait inspired by the Sting song of the same name.
"There's a moon over bourbon street tonight
I see faces as they pass beneath the pale lamplight
I've no choice but to follow that call
The bright lights the people and the moon and all
I pray everyday to be strong
For I know what I do must be wrong
Oh you'll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet
While there's a moon over bourbon street" - STING
Artist Note "I've always loved this song, not just because Sting was inspired by the book "Interview with a Vampire" but because I feel its an allegory of obsession, compulsion, and addiction. Interestingly enough, the #1 addiction that almost all man suffers from is the addiction to one's own way of thinking! How hard it is to change the way we think about life, ourselves and others. We're driven, often, with the need to serve the beast of our beliefs. A good questioning is healthy, now and again - even if our core remains the same, some "spring cleaning" may be good for the soul lest the vampire within drains the life out of us.
