Artist's Description
11th installment of the artist's Ides series: A collection representing the heart of the months of the year. May - Color And Light celebrates both the flowers of May, but also a not to the song "Color And Light" in the Stephen Sondheim musical, "Sunday in the Park with George"
"The day of this painting I was listening to the soundtrack for "Sunday in the Park with George" the NYC recording with Jake Gyllenhaal whom my daughter and I got to see a few years ago. This is one of my favorite Sondheim musicals and a favorite song of mine as well. The dots of colors in this reminded me of the line from the song..."More light!
Color and light
There's only color and light
Yellow and white
Just blue and yellow and white
Look at the air, miss
See what I mean?
No, look over there, miss
That's done with green...
Conjoined with orange..." - Stephen Sondheim
About Ken Walker
"There are only two worthwhile things to leave behind when you depart this world of ours - children and art!" - Sunday In The Park With George I've been fortunate to have been blessed with both a beautiful daughter and a talent for music and art. Welcome! They say that a good biography is in the 3rd person - I prefer to be more personal. If you've taken the time to read this, then you deserve something more, something more personal and heartfelt to get to know me as an artist and as a person. To understand the art, it is good to understand the journey the artist takes: The joys and scars along the way. Take a moment to experience my work, and you'll notice a common thread: Hope and Healing. Communicating all I've learned in...

Stunning, beautiful MAY Color and Light, and minimalism profound in reply to Sondheim. f.v.
Ken Walker replied:
Which Sondheim is anything but...more complex. Hopefully he would have approved. Dot. Dot. Dot. Nice and Even Mr. Sondheim. LOL
