4:44: I Will Wait
Lyrics by Ken Walker
You’re stirring me,
to remember you,
“Come my child and spend this time with Me!”
Your threads of love
are drawing me in
I will yield myself to you
So,
I will wait,
I will come
Intertwine myself in You.
The fruit of love is what I’m longing for,
So here I am
Touch me heart
Your face I want to see
I’m waiting here,
I’m waiting here for you.
Awaken me
I bend my ear
Come and speak the words of life that draw me near
Oh, I look to You
For You are my Hope
You have captured me
My heart’s forever Yours
So,
I will wait,
I will come
Intertwine myself in You.
The fruit of love is what I’m longing for,
So here I am
Touch me heart
Your face I want to see
I’m waiting here,
I’m waiting here for you.
Yes, I’m waiting here
I’m waiting here for you.
Artist Note - "I have learned to speak out of my heart - with love. Most of my work comes from a Christian perspective, but my place has not been to do so dogmatically, but rather to be an encouragement to all around me, finding common ground, and hopefully offering some hope to those who have struggled with grief, addiction, and the wounds from childhood trauma. For me, my belief and relationship with a loving God has been the foundation from which any goodness of the heart flows. With all that is going on in the world, hope is something precious. Working with this painting, I recalled how these words have remained to comfort me. These lyrics, and the music with it, came to me as my dear friend was preaching years ago on what it meant to "wait on God". The basic concept was that the word "wait" the Psalmist uses was actually a term used in tending to a vineyard. I put a lot of vineyard references in the lyrics to paint the picture of the vigneron (person who cultivates the grapes for wine) tending to the vines, and the vines in turn wait to be pruned, to be cared for and in turn yield their fruit to He who watches over them.
