Spotlight by Ken Walker
I tried to live in the shadows, safe
in the darkness. There is no life there.
I hear the others, scared, alone
in this chaotic mess, they are lost,
missing parts of themselves, searching
for meaning and truth. I must journey outward
through the cracks in this fortress, the place of self
focus and walk tall amongst the concrete towers, shining
the spotlight,
piercing the night’s sky, a lighthouse
on a high hill, leading
The way
towards my piece of the puzzle
Artist Note - "When I working with this new series, the name "spotlight" came to mind as I started working on variants of the original piece, spotlighting certain parts of the image. At 54 years, I'm still working on bringing healing to my distorted vision of myself. Of late, I've begun to embrace that one of the core parts of WHO I AM is my passion to add LIGHT and FLAVOR to those around me by a giving of myself and offering what wisdom I have to share. This often includes pulling up the curtain and show the scenes of my life where I've stumbled in order to point a way out of darkness. It's funny, but when we come out of the darkness, we tend to shine a spotlight onto the very things that others need, and visa versa. I believe we are an incomplete picture and truly become whole when we connect with others. We become the missing piece of the puzzle for them, and they add the pieces we are missing. Community. Strength. Hope. Love. A beautiful picture put together."

Yes, always striving, seeking, hoping, and, the spaces FILL the whole to make it coalescent, truthful, balanced, ONE , with the higher Plan - never fragmented, thankfully, full of trust, even in the empty/not/spaces we encounter. !! Beautiful Art, and Heart, this thoughtful Art, Ken.:))

I suppose in this case, we're seeing the pieces coming together in moment in time or maybe sometimes we see it that way, but even the space in between has its purpose - striving for that purity of essence no doubt.
