Description
Modern fragmented geometry in black, yellow and red - triangle, circle and square.
"Incongruence" Therapeutic definition:
1. lack of consistency or appropriateness, as in inappropriate affect or as when one’s subjective evaluation of a situation is at odds with reality.
2. as defined by Carl Rogers, a lack of alignment between the real self and the ideal self. See real–ideal self congruence.
"Johri Window" - A therapeutic model used in understanding and communicating the truth of one's self. (Variations of the model may offer slightly different windows, but the essence should mostly stay consistent)
Pane #1 - This contains the things known to one's self that are also known by others.
Pane #2 - This is one's blind-spot, containing things known only to others, but unknown to self.
Pane #3 - This is the façade, the things known to one's self, but masked from other's knowledge.
Pane #4 - This contains the things unknown to one's self AND others, yet to be revealed. In a spiritual context, this contains the things only known by the Creator.
POEM - "Incongruence" by Ken Walker
A life in four panes, Johari’s window. Strange
reflections, shattered pieces. Incongruence,
a wisp of smoke. Existence’s dream,
a distant reality. Submerged
memories, a hidden self. Disjointed,
parts of the whole. Deconstructed.
Artist Note - "This is the beginning and middle of the journey - to be self-aware, truly and completely. Of course, this is a never-ending discovery of the things unknown to us. I was blessed to learn about THE JOHARI WINDOW some time back and it has served as a great tool of understanding myself and others. It offers a pathway to growth when I can accept the insights about myself from others, understanding that I do not have all the information about ME that I believe I possess. Some of the greatest leaps forward in personal growth have been the "TOUGH LOVE" revelations from my own daughter that led me to a truer vision of the man in the mirror. It also helps to understand other's blind-spots and offer grace as they navigate around these pillars in their own eyes. As I walk this journey, I'm also aware that I become more whole as I let down my façade, the mask I have worn to protect myself from others. Finally, as a Christian, I believe that the only way to become fully whole is to embrace and seek after the one who created me, who knows every deep crevice of my soul - who knows what I do not. This of course, takes patience, perseverance, and a humble heart to listen."

Ken, CONGRATULATIONS! Your work has been featured in the Home Page of The ARTIST BUZzz Group! You are cordially invited to POST image embed links for this distinction to the #8. GAs Features Archive Thread in the discussion tab. Thank you for your glimpse of beauty! Ken, wonderful backstory, …feel free to add to it in the BUZzz threads. Have you explored the enneagram? Or the five universal shapes? I have found them both to be personal, introspective models with both psychological and spiritual conscious awareness “fingers pointing to the moon”.
