The Great Exodus
I’m no hero.
I’ve lit a spark and now the city
burns.
I start to panic,
hiding
like I always do,
in the darkness waiting to be
consumed.
At least I’m not alone here.
Misery always has company.
I need to make my escape,
The Great Exodus,
out into the desert,
past the city
walls,
but I’ve got matches.
I’ve created madness
too often to count.
I’ll just start another
fire
wherever I end up.
It seems so counter intuitive to
stay,
embracing the fear,
the anguish,
but as crazy as it sounds,
what do I have left to lose?

"There are only two worthwhile things to leave behind when you depart this world of ours - children and art!" - Sunday In The Park With George I've been fortunate to have been blessed with both a beautiful daughter and a talent for music and art. Welcome! They say that a good biography is in the 3rd person - I prefer to be more personal. If you've taken the time to read this, then you deserve something more, something more personal and heartfelt to get to know me as an artist and as a person. To understand the art, it is good to understand the journey the artist takes: The joys and scars along the way. Take a moment to experience my work, and you'll notice a common thread: Hope and Healing. Communicating all I've learned in...

Ken.....I 'read' you.....all. I 'feel' your emotion....I know your intent: almost altruistic, and so sensitive, caring, daring. Keep on keeping on, my Friend......Yes.....you are heard!! Believe it ! you are understood! Believe it!..you make a difference!! Believe it!!

Side note: This was one of the most difficult poems to write. To capture the heart moment into words that best capture the image of thought and emotion took some time. Thanks for reading it.

I appreciated the comments. I'm glad that there are those here that appreciate the heart put into these works and understand the message within.

This is so evocative, Ken, philosophically! Permit me to speak thoughts you've hereby sparked: "We will always bring trouble with us"....ergo: Change your motherload?... "We must stay grounded and fight to save the world in which we created for ourselves.", imho?::Change your motherload, create a better world that way! from within!......Stop the planet's suffering! ..from within. ...end-of-thoughts. Wishing your suffering to be over, and wishing you/the world, to be Well......VIVA :)
