Description
A conceptual self-portrait examining the parts within ourselves that exist to protect us from past trauma.
I carry you in my pocket.
The wind is just right,
A quickening,
Breath of Life,
You are ready to soar.
I let go.
Playtime.
I can hear your laughter,
here below.
I hold you tight
Running carefree
How high you soar.
Reach for the clouds above, my friend,
Cool dollops of white in the sky, float away.
Yes, float Away,
but not too far.
Beware of the black bird.
He is protective of the kingdom you invade.
A sharp beak he wields,
I will pull you back down to safety,
Should he thrust his mighty beak your way.
Can you see me?
Have you forgotten
I’m still here
holding the string that connect us?
But I won’t let ago,
no matter how much you try and pull
away, longing to be free
You are my visage,
I am the faceless one down below
Perhaps one day I will join you
in Heaven’s abode,
Whole again.
Still,
I remain, waiting
feet on the ground,
Watching for your return,
Home again
my friend,
my Balloon.
