-"Even from this distance, he could smell the bonanza of food scents wafting out the Cranberry Cafe in Midtown, Manhattan. He had loved to grab that last slice of pizza at night and take a casual stroll up 22nd street with his wife to Times Square to sit on the Red Steps. It was very touristy, but there was something about all those signs lit up like mini rectangular suns stretching out across the building's faces that brought out a sense of child-like wonder in him. They had made plans for another trip to the Big Apple before they received that phone call from the doctor that would shift their view of the world around them. Things are so different with so little time left. He had been reluctant to take this trip on his own, but he had gone as a promised to her. Now we was re-visiting each step they took together, hoping to find something new to make his own. He would find the happiness again.
The glow of the Square's light behind him cast a shadow that playfully danced across his path as he made his way down 45th street toward the cafe. Since that first night after arriving at the lake house, he had had this dream, so many memories unfolding their buried and forgotten secrets: A beautiful stranger waits for him and with the awkward grace of any Hallmark movie, he slams into her, her bag of delectables spilling onto the sidewalk. A smile radiates from an angel of second chances that has been haunting him, begging him to abandon life in the real world for just a moment to Dream A Little Dream.....of her!"
