- Take a diamond and hold it to the light and it will sparkle, casting the light’s rays into a rainbow of colors. Now place the diamond on a black felt cloth and that same diamond will outshine the diamond in the light, its colors more intense and brilliant against the backdrop of darkness. There is something to be gleaned by this analogy and how we choose to memorialize the troubled times we face. A painful moment can be the frame by which we are able to contextualize that which we hold most dear. In dark times, we are better able to see the true character of our nature, which will always shine more brightly when faced with challenges.
