Description
A re-work of a previous piece celebrating a Father's Love for his child.
Artist Note: "This worked on multiple levels, but the piece inspired me to dwell on my love for daughter. The black surrounding the red, represents the trying dark times we shared, but the love remains and breaks through the darkness. It is the focus of the painting and the focus of our lives. See poem below:
Placed in my arms,
So overwhelmed, frantic love.
Nothing I had ever done was as important -
Holding you in my arms in that moment,
Uncertainly filled the room, but it was only about you,
Latching onto my finger,
New, frail, needing Daddy,
A bond shaping our hearts,
Everything we were and would become.
I wonder how I could have been granted such a wonderous life,
A rare piece of your mother,
But only God knows.
I am gladly here to witness each glorious step,
Stand tall for you to lean on,
Guide you when you’ve lost your way.
The love of a Father is the light that shines the path,
A canopy that covers us both.
It reaches out to surround you.
This is your identity.
This is your strength.
You are cherished,
You are valued,
And you have your Father’s Love.
